I always find it interesting to see what technology people use in their day to day life, so I thought I'd do my own list.

Machines

13" Mac Book Pro

Purcahed a few months ago (May 2010) to replace my netbook, in which the battery stopped working.

  • 2.4ghz Intel Core 2 Duo CPU
  • 4gb DDR3 RAM
  • 250gb Harddrive
  • 256mb NVIDIA GeForce 320M

24" iMac (Early 2008 Model)

Bought this in February 2009 as I needed a more powerful machine for development work than my old 2800+ AMD machine.

Specs:

  • 2.8ghz Intel Core 2 Duo CPU
  • 4gb DDR2-800 RAM (Upgraded from 2gb)
  • 320gb Harddrive
  • 256mb ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro
  • 2 x 500gb USB Seagate external drives
  • 23.7" AOC secondary monitor

Mac Notes

Both Macs are running the latest version of Snow Leopard and Parallels 5 (Which, by the way, is great).

In Parallels I'm running Windows 7 with Visual Studio 2010 and SQL 2008 for Windows development. Both have 2gb of ram and ~30gb virtual harddrive.

Home Server

Custom built box I put together at the end of 2008. Hosts a couple of websites and services.

Specs:

  • AMD x2 64 5200+
  • 2 x 500gb Hitachi harddrives in Raid 1
  • 3gb DDR2-800 RAM (Motherboard won't take any more, sadly)
  • Windows 2008 Standard x64

Smoothwall Box

Gateway/firewall for the internet at home. Connects to a Telstra Clear 15mbps down/2mbps up internet connection. Built up from an old Compaq that was once my desktop machine.

Specs:

  • 733mhz Pentium 3
  • 20gb Harddrive
  • 384mb Ram
  • Smoothwall 3

Phone:  16gb iPhone 4 with Vodafone New Zealand

MP3 Player: 160gb iPod Classic.

Camera: Nikon CoolPix S210 (Although use cellphone more often)

Speakers: Logitech 5.1 channel speakers

Other: 250gb external Seagate laptop drive, 4gb DSE USB stick

Blogging Software: Kustom Page (Obviously)

You can also see a list of hardware I was using back in 2008 here.
